Benefits of Regular Massage
1. Your body needs maintenance
Often we think of massage as either a luxury or a response to pain. It doesn't have to be that way. It can be part of your ongoing wellbeing, whether you have a particular issue or not. It can be pure enjoyment and relaxation, or loosen up muscles before they have chance to get tight and cause a problem.
2. Unwind patterns of tension
If you are doing any repetitive action for work or as a hobby (sports, crafts, music, gym, gardening, dog walking), or if you are under stress through work or family life, you'll have patterns of tension in your body. Regular massage can help these to unwind.
3. Change takes time
We all love an instant result, but when it comes to the body, real lasting change happens slowly over time. The nervous system holds tensions in place that are in the involuntary part of the system, beyond our conscious control. We can’t will or think our way out of tension. We have to keep reminding the body it can let go with methods that reach our unconscious mind - breath, movement, touch. The slow, deep way that I work gives the nervous system time to adapt and learn to hold the body in a new way.
4. Help with chronic conditions
If you have an ongoing condition such as Fibromyalgia or Osteoarthritis, massage isn’t able to provide a cure for the symptoms, but it will help you to manage them. Regular sessions will help ease tight muscles and soothe frayed nerves, enabling you to engage more fully in life.
5. Support in daily life
I can offer an aftercare exercise to help bring the wellbeing into your daily life. This might be a stretch or a relaxation technique, whatever is most suited to your particular needs. What you do every day has a powerful effect, and by coming for regular sessions I can refine and adjust your aftercare as needed.
6. Getting to the core
As tensions release with repeated treatments, I’m able to get deeper into muscle aches and release deeper-seated core tension. If you have a particular issue it can benefit to have weekly sessions for a while, then gradually space them out to maintenance sessions of every 4-8 weeks.
7. Relaxation
Regularly making space for relaxation encourages the body into the rest and digest function of the nervous system, which lowers blood pressure, reduces levels of stress hormones and improves immunity and digestion.
Being able to fully rest means that you feel more energised, in a more positive mindset and ready to meet the challenges of life.
For the price of a weekly cup of coffee, you can have regular massage - even a £27 half hour massage every 8 weeks can make a difference.
